Features
At this moment, PicLens has basic functionality. We plan to add a load of new features in the coming months.
How can I save images viewed in PicLens?
We are considering an elegant solution to address this popular feature request. For now, one can jump to the corresponding web page of the highlighted image. To do so, click the small arrow icon next to the website logo that appears at the top left of the PicLens viewer. In PicLens v1.6.3+, this arrow icon has been replaced with a globe icon that appears at the bottom center of the screen after an item has been selected. Can I use PicLens to view images on my local hard drive?
Although this functionality is not yet officially supported, there is a little trick you can try if you are using our Firefox version. Drag the file containing your images into your Firefox browser, and then click the PicLens icon located on right of the browser menu bar. This functionality has not been optimized, so viewing desktop images will be much slower than viewing web images. Can I enable my website for PicLens?
Yes. See our Webmaster's Guide and PicLens Lite to learn how to enable PicLens for your website or WordPress blog.Browser and Operating System Compatibility
PicLens currently supports Firefox (Windows XP/Vista and Mac), Internet Explorer, and Safari (Mac).
Does PicLens work on Firefox 3.0b (Minefield)?
Yes, PicLens v.1.6.3+ supports Firefox 3b5..Will PicLens support Linux anytime soon?
Our ideal plan is to eventually make our Firefox version work cross-platform, but its timing is not yet clear due to our current resource constraints. We're trying to make sure our currently supported platforms are fully stabilized and robust before supporting other platforms. We appreciate your support and understanding. What about support for Opera or Safari (Windows)?
Opera and Safari (Windows) are fantastic browsers, and we can understand why users love them. However, due to resource constraints, our team needs to wait until the user base for these two browsers grows a bit.How Can I Help?
As a developer of free software, nothing would make us happier than to see PicLens used by everyone on the internet. You can help by simply telling your friends, bloggers, social networking contacts, and other about PicLens. We truly appreciate your support.
The other way you can help is by becoming an alpha/beta tester. Every now and then we seek feedback on new releases or fixes. If you're interested in testing and providing feedback, contact us, and we'll add you to our beta testing mailing list.
